Ecological Dimension: AWE

The Flagship Project of HOME is AWE or Appreciation Through Working Examples. The Proponents realize that the fundamental attitude towards Nature should be awe and wonder towards the amazing wisdom that pervades all natural processes. The emerging global design movement called “bio-mimicry” is a concrete manifestation of this new attitude of respect for Nature and its intention to build upon Nature’s achievements that have been honed for billions of years.

This is the reason why SIAD 1.0 proponents chose the acronym “AWE” to characterize it flagship project under the ecological dimension of SIAD.

The overall objective of AWE is to showcase a multifaceted farming system for educational and production purposes.

The AWE project will contain the following features:

  • Demonstration area for various ecological technologies (recycling of biological wastes, renewable energies, rare species, others)
  • Climate change adapted (CCA) sustainable agriculture
  • Aesthetic landscape design with appropriate sculptural elements including a garden of the senses
  • State-of-the-art new science architecture
  • Educational dioramas of natural and social history
  • Simple sheds to house dioramas and hold spontaneous conversations
  • Network of pathways to connect various features of the landscape
  • Training venue including accommodations for various kinds of educational activities
  • Advanced courses on human potential and societal transformation

The venue for the manifestation of all these features of AWE is Vidar Farm 2.0, located 4 kilometers from the town proper. SEA is still finalizing the project design of AWE. Meanwhile, SEA will include a strong awareness of the ecological dimension as it pursues wide-scale organic and bio-dynamic agriculture as part of ZAP, the Zarraga Agriculture Program.

We have started working on Climate Change Adapted (CCA) sustainable agriculture in the form of Vidar 2.0. This is the centrepiece of AWE.We will build other elements of AWE around Vidar 2.0.
