Our fight for the environment continues. During the second half of September, our team have worked hard in conducting, facilitating and joining environmental awareness activities with our partner schools and communities. Teachers and students were moved by Greta Thunberg’s ‘change has come’ and ‘the future is in our hands’ statements that they themselves wanted to do a little something for the environment.

On September 18, 2019 simultaneous with the drafting of policy on regulating the plastic use in Culasi National High School (see: Environmental Governance on the Go ), Pedada Elementary School reorganized their Earth Stewards since most of the children have graduated already. A week later, September 27, 2019, they also had their Zero Waste Management Symposium.

On September 20, 2019, Punta Buri Elementary School had their Zero Waste Management Symposium and clean up drive in their coast line. Both activities were attended by more or less 150 participants composed of parents, teachers, brgy. officials, brgy. volunteers and students.

On September 25 – 27, 2019, Culasi National High School had their Environmental Science Camp where several environmental activities were conducted including Malunggay, Tanglad and Fruit-bearing trees and Mangrove planting, Zero Waste Management Symposium and Clean Up Drive among other activities.

On September 29, 2019, Brgy. Salacay, Cabatuan had their first ever Environmental Forum where it was attended by more or less 120 participants composed of students and teachers of Salacay Elementary School, volunteers and brgy. council of the said barangay as well as the SK leaders of the neighboring barangays.

The program started with the Tree Growing activity of all participants. They planted their seedlings in the area identified by the brgy. council which was near the river. Later, Hon Ma Lida Libiano, Punong Barangay of Salacay clarified that the Tree Growing area will be converted to an Eco Park of the barangay.
