On September 20 and 21, the leaders and residents of Brgy. Sangcate gathered not just to talk, but to build. In a powerful two-day workshop defined by the Appreciative Inquiry (AI) approach, this community proved that the best way to predict the future is to create it yourself.

From Discovery to Destiny

While many planning sessions dwell on problems, the Sangcate workshop flipped the script. Led by facilitators from SEA Inc., participants from the SK, 4Ps, Barangay Officials, and local farmers focused on their strengths—from the abundance of the Tigum River to their “zero malnutrition” record.

They didn’t just list their assets; they weaponized them for development. Moving through the stages of Discovery, Dream, Design, and Destiny, the community crafted a Strategic Plan that is as ambitious as it is grounded. They are:

Defining their Vision: Establishing Sangcate as a “peaceful, loving, and progressive community” driven by honest governance and deep faith.

Strategizing Economy: Launching concrete livelihood projects like mushroom production, chip processing, and eco-tourism centered on the Balsa Race.

Preserving Culture: Ensuring that amidst innovation, traditions like Flores de Mayo and local fiestas remain the heartbeat of the barangay.

A Mandate for Action

The result of this workshop isn’t just a stack of papers; it is a tactical roadmap covering the Seven Dimensions of Development.

As Captain Annabelle noted, knowing their strengths and weaknesses allows them to implement efficient programs that actually work.

The “Dream Stage” is over. With a solidified mission and a comprehensive SWOT analysis in hand, Brgy. Sangcate has moved past wishing for a better community—they are now actively engineering it.

Consider this your official update: The roadmap is drawn, the goals are set, and Brgy. Sangcate is officially under construction for a resilient future.
