November 5, 2025 marked a significant win for education in the municipality of New Lucena as the LifeBank Foundation, in strong partnership with the Local Government Unit (LGU), held the Scholarship Payout for its hardworking scholars. The event was a reminder that when local leaders and organizations work hand-in-hand, the youth can soar higher, dream bolder, and build stronger communities.

A Healthy Start for a Bright Future

The ceremony began with a crucial reminder from SB Member Liecel Mondejar-Seville, who set the tone by discussing the importance of the Anti-Smoking Law. Her message highlighted a holistic approach to student life: true success isn’t just about grades, but about maintaining a healthy body and mind to fully seize the opportunities ahead.

The Privilege of Education

Ms. Myka Ella B. Perlas-Rivera, Vice President for Social and Sustainable Development at LifeBank Foundation, addressed the scholars with a powerful reality check. “Not everyone is given the opportunity to get a scholarship,” she reminded the students.

She emphasized that college represents the foundational years of one’s life. “The rest of your life is work,” she noted, urging the scholars not to take this support for granted. By valuing this opportunity now, students prepare themselves to reach their highest purpose and flourish later in life.

A Parent’s Greatest Gift

Mayor Atty. Carl Vincent G. Mondejar spoke to the heart of every family present, acknowledging the sacrifices made behind the scenes. “The most important thing a parent can give is an education,” Mayor Mondejar stated.

He recognized that while not every family has financial stability, parents tirelessly strive to provide opportunities for their children. He also honored the long-standing goodwill between former Mayor SB Liecel Mondejar and SEA Inc., particularly with Sir Nick, which has paved the way for these blessings.

“Quality need not be expensive; what is important is the drive to graduate,” the Mayor advised. He encouraged students to maintain their grades and view money simply as a tool—one that, when used wisely, can help many more. The students responded with a resounding promise to their Mayor: “YES po, we will finish our College.”

A Community of Wisdom

Vice Mayor Isabelo M. Acollador reinforced the town’s identity, reminding the youth of the New Lucena hymn: “Banwa sng maalaamon” (Town of the Wise/Learned).

He urged the scholars to avoid drugs and distractions that could derail their dreams. “Also, remember to help each other,” he added, fostering a spirit of unity among the scholars.

A Celebration of Dreams

The event was filled with pride as Ma’am Berna G. Halongong, Acting Head of Social and Sustainable Development at LifeBank Foundation, presented the 50 scholars.

The gathering proved that holistic studying in New Lucena is thriving. The collaboration between SEA Inc., LifeBank, and the Barangay officials continues to bear fruit, ensuring that the youth are supported not just financially, but socially and morally.

To our scholars: Padayon lang! Keep learning, keep shining. Your community believes in you, invests in you, and celebrates every step of your journey.
