Brgy. Punta Buri is leading the way in environmental governance. A recent Climate Emergency Symposium brought together 94 participants from partner schools, including pupils, youth leaders, students, teachers, parents, and environmental experts. This collaborative effort aims to address climate change challenges and build a more sustainable future for the community.
In the face of a climate crisis that grows louder with every passing storm and rising tide, Brgy. Punta Buri is taking a stand—and doing it with heart, determination, and a whole lot of teamwork. Their latest salvo in the fight for a sustainable future? A series of environmental governance initiatives that are as inspiring as they are impactful.
At the heart of these efforts was a Climate Emergency Symposium that gathered an eclectic and passionate group of 94 participants. From bright-eyed pupils to Sangguniang Kabataan leaders, high school and college students, teachers, parents, and committed staff from ESSA and SEA, the event was a melting pot of ideas and resolve. Together, they tackled the big questions about our planet’s fate, diving into the sobering realities of the 6th extinction and the ticking clock on our environmental lifeline.
This wasn’t just a lecture. It was a call to arms. Workshops turned participants into planners, breaking them into groups to brainstorm actionable steps to confront climate challenges head-on. Each conversation was a seed planted in the fertile ground—ready to grow into meaningful, collective action.
But the movement didn’t stop there. Environmental Forums took the message deeper into the community. At Punta Buri Elementary School, 35 participants, many of them young and eager, learned the ropes of environmental responsibility and sustainable living. Meanwhile, a forum with the Barangay Development Council brought 35 more voices to the table, bridging community aspirations with governance strategies.
These initiatives are more than just events; they’re a testament to Brgy. Punta Buri’s unwavering commitment to a greener tomorrow. By pulling together people of all ages and walks of life, the barangay is fostering a sense of shared responsibility—a united front against the challenges our planet faces.
