Life as a barangay official, CSO member, or LGU employee can often feel like walking a tightrope. Balancing personal challenges, professional duties, and community expectations can be overwhelming. For many, the Inner Conditioning Workshop held in Bulacan became a much-needed pause—a space to reflect, recalibrate, and reignite their purpose in serving through the IPAT-SIAD program of SEA Inc.
From Chaos to Clarity: Heart Breathing in Action
Divinia shared a deeply personal story:
“Right after New Year, my two kids fought. My eldest got so angry that he hit his younger sibling with a spading fork. Thankfully, the blow was deflected by our basin. I stepped in, scolded them, and tried to mediate, but I couldn’t focus afterward. My emotions overwhelmed me. I kept hitting my own head out of frustration, wondering why I couldn’t calm down. Then, I remembered the heart-breathing exercise from the workshop. It truly worked. I calmed down and handled things better.”
This simple yet profound tool—a practice of mindful breathing and grounding—gave Divinia clarity amidst the chaos, a technique she now uses in her personal and professional life.
Redefining Contentment and Gratitude
For Liza, Christmas and New Year weren’t filled with expensive gifts or grand feasts. Instead, they were marked by togetherness:
“I didn’t receive luxurious gifts, and our celebrations were simple, but I was happy. My family was complete, and that’s more than enough.”
Meanwhile, Kelly, who spent the holidays alone, focused on gratitude:
“Even though I was alone and feeling low, I was thankful. I’ve reached this age and another year. That’s already a gift.”
Their stories remind us that joy comes not from material things but from moments of connection and the strength to appreciate life’s blessings, no matter how small.
Standing Firm on Integrity
Elsa emphasized the importance of accountability:
“If something is wrong, it must be addressed during discussions. If no one speaks up, the system will never change. I don’t care whom I upset—what’s right is right, and what’s wrong is wrong.”
Her determination reflects the workshop’s core message: integrity and courage must guide leadership.
Leaving a Legacy of Service
For Aida, the workshop reinforced her commitment to planning with purpose:
“I’m focused on creating a health budget plan that ensures funds are well-utilized, even after I leave my post. We should always leave a legacy because, in the end, people won’t remember your name—they’ll remember what you did.”
Similarly, Elbert shared,
“While we have time and resources, we should act now. What we do today will benefit future generations and leave behind something meaningful.”
This sense of urgency and foresight aligns with the workshop’s call to build sustainable systems that empower communities long after leadership transitions.
Strengthening Families, Strengthening Communities
Lejanie found joy in celebrating the holidays with her complete family:
“Having my husband home and celebrating together made a difference. A united family serves as a model for children, teaching them what a healthy family should look like.”
Her reflection highlights how personal harmony creates a ripple effect, shaping future generations to value strong relationships and ethical leadership.
Practical Tools for Inner Peace
Sir Von Ryan Somblingo, who grappled with anger management, found meditation and heart-breathing transformative:
“I’ve learned to minimize my anger, especially at home. These practices have made me a better person and a better leader.”
Sir Isabelo Luscares shared how the workshop helped him stay focused despite the challenges of politics:
“I feel at peace because I have clear goals for connecting sectors with the government. This clarity ensures that the threefolding principle and IPAT-SIAD initiatives remain sustainable.”
A Workshop That Resonates Beyond the Room
The Inner Conditioning Workshop didn’t just provide techniques—it offered a shift in perspective. It reminded participants of the power of mindfulness, integrity, and purpose-driven leadership. By grounding themselves, they found ways to better serve their communities, leaving legacies that inspire hope and resilience.
To quote one participant:
“True leadership begins within. Once we align our hearts and minds, everything else follows.”
As SEA Inc. continues to empower local leaders through the IPAT-SIAD program, the lessons from this workshop will undoubtedly echo through barangays, communities, and generations to come.
