Progress is not always about budgets, buildings, or board exams. Sometimes, it begins with a simple, honest “Kamusta ka?”
At the Inner Conditioning Workshop (ICW) Weekly Kamustahan in Brgy. Bagumbayan, governance felt less like a meeting and more like a circle of courage. No microphones of ego. Just voices of truth.
Kagawad Marlene spoke first — not with authority, but with vulnerability. “Committee chairperson ako, pero hindi ibig sabihin ako lang ang gagawa ng lahat.”
She shared her need for support in the ongoing construction and rehabilitation of the Multi-Purpose Day Care Center. Leadership, she reminded everyone, is not a solo act. It is a shared responsibility.
She also acknowledged the murmurs. “Naririnig ko ang mga reklamo. Pero bukas ako sa constructive criticism.”
That line lingered in the room. Because real governance is not threatened by feedback — it is refined by it. She stood firm in her commitment: if her actions are aligned with proper procedures, she will continue to serve despite criticisms.
The Barangay Captain echoed what leadership looks like when it is secure, not insecure.
“Walang dapat umangal sa pag-represent niya sa barangay sa probinsya. She has shown dedication and commitment.”
In that moment, SEA Bayanihan Governance was not just a framework — it was alive. Bayanihan is not just about lifting houses. It is about lifting each other’s confidence, credibility, and capacity.
Then Treasurer Rose shared something deeply personal. Her face lit up when she said: “Magga-graduate na ang anak ko this June.”
Hope. A mother’s quiet triumph. But her voice softened when she added: “Ako lang ang may income sa pamilya. Hindi ko alam paano kami makaka-survive.”
In one breath — joy and worry. Celebration and survival.
And that is the reality of grassroots governance. Our leaders are not separate from struggle. They carry projects by day and personal burdens by night.
ICW reminded us that inner conditioning is not about pretending to be strong. It is about being honest enough to admit when you need support — in projects, in leadership, in life.
SEA’s Bayanihan Governance is grounded in this truth: Governance is not about power. It is about shared responsibility. Not about titles. But about trust.
Not about noise. But about alignment.
At Brgy. Bagumbayan, last February 15, 2026, progress did not shout.
It listened.
It opened up.
It stood together.
And that — more than any infrastructure — is what builds a stronger barangay.
