Ajuy, a coastal gem 88 km from Iloilo City, is famed for its deep port in Bay-ang and convenient RO-RO trips to E.B. Magalona. Founded near the Gubaton River in the 1200s, Ajuy’s name has quirky origins—legend says a Spanish visitor mistook “kahoy” (wood) for the town’s name! Despite WWII bombings, history lives on in the Rojas Ancestral House. Fast forward to 2023, and Ajuy proudly claimed 1st Runner-Up in the Malinis at Masaganang Karagatan awards and is now building a vibrant new Public Market under Mayor Jett Rojas’s leadership.
