Oplan Paltak in New Lucena
On June 30, 2024, the Baganihan Hall in New Lucena became a haven of hope and healing as the municipality hosted the highly anticipated “Oplan Paltak.” This inspiring initiative brought together the expertise and compassion of healthcare professionals, the unwavering support of local leaders, and the collective generosity of several organizations—all aimed at delivering free medical and surgical services to the community.
The event was a collaborative effort led by the Philippine Nurses Association (PNA), under the dynamic leadership of their president, Mr. Franky Fortaleza Muzones, and the Operating Room Nurses Association of the Philippines Inc. (ORNAP), spearheaded by Ms. Karen Babao. Joining them was the diligent team from the Rural Health Unit (RHU) of New Lucena, whose facilitation and tireless efforts ensured the program’s success. Together, they served an impressive 141 patients from all barangays in New Lucena, a testament to the power of bayanihan in action.
Compassion at No Cost
One of the most remarkable aspects of Oplan Paltak was its accessibility. The services were completely free thanks to the magnanimity of ORNAP and PNA. These organizations not only provided surgical instruments and medical manpower but also extended their expertise with open hearts. Meanwhile, the RHU of New Lucena supplied the necessary medications, ensuring that patients received holistic care. Adding to the spirit of generosity, SEA provided meals for the hardworking healthcare teams. At the same time, the Local Government Unit (LGU) of New Lucena facilitated transportation for PNA and ORNAP staff, ensuring their seamless participation.

A Unified Community Effort
The presence and support of Mayor Liecel Mondejar-Seville and Vice Mayor Isabelo Acollador further amplified the event’s success. Both leaders personally visited the venue, showcasing their commitment to the well-being of their constituents and ensuring the activity’s smooth execution. Their presence not only motivated the organizers but also reinforced the importance of health initiatives in building a resilient and thriving community.

Beyond Numbers
While the statistics are impressive—48 dedicated nurses and doctors catering to 141 patients—the true essence of Oplan Paltak lies in its transformative impact. For many patients, this was more than just a medical mission; it was a lifeline, a beacon of hope that reminded them they were not alone in their health journeys.
A Legacy of Care
Oplan Paltak’s success is a shining example of what can be achieved when individuals and organizations come together with a shared vision. It’s a reminder that healthcare is not just a service but a right, and initiatives like these play a pivotal role in making that right accessible to all. As New Lucena continues to champion programs like Oplan Paltak, it sets a benchmark for community-driven healthcare initiatives, proving that no challenge is insurmountable when tackled with unity and compassion.
A Call to Action
As we celebrate the triumph of Oplan Paltak, let us also reflect on how we can contribute to similar efforts in our communities.
