The Solution Ecosystems Activator (SEA), Inc. conducted a Participatory Resource Appraisal (PRA) Training last March 6, 2024 at Brgy. Jelicuon Este, New Lucena Iloilo with a total of 24 participants including CSO representatives from Youth sector, Solo parent, religious group and senior citizen. The Barangay Council members were present headed by their Punong Barangay John Dennis Solas. The PRA Training aims to gather an updated community data and different community maps by mobilizing the participation of the people in the community.
Through this training, the people of the Barangay engaged in assessing their existing resources, identifying and updating the community data through Household Inventory (HHI) as well, Venn Diagram that is considered as a visual presentation of the relationship and coordination between the Barangay Local Government Unit and the different organizations operating inside and outside their community. The 24-Hour Recall is a tool to illustrate the daily life routine or activities that usually done by male and female. With this, they were able to assess that each gender has distinction in terms of roles, responsibilities. Women always performed multiple tasks.
As a result of this training, the participants were able to update their spot map and resource map and they were thankful that SEA, Inc. reached their expectation and they gained knowledge in making spot map and resource map with the participation of sectoral leaders. Most important take away is that they are enjoying the activity while learning.
Lastly, Punong Barangay Hon. John Dennis Solas said “I am Thankful for the presence and participation of everybody and the assistance given by SEA, Inc.in our barangay that we were able to gain additional knowledge about PRA. In this way, we could help the volunteers update our data and maps in the Barangay”.
