Some of the key impacts of BDC are Local Development Planning, where in the BDC facilitates the formulation of Barangay Development Plans (BDP’s) that identify the needs, priorities, and strategies for development within the Barangay. These plans guide the allocation of resources and implementation of projects leading to improve infrastructure, services and overall development.
The BDC also impacts in terms of Participatory Governance because it promotes citizen participation and inclusivity of decision-making processes. It provides a space for community members to voice their concerns, contribute ideas, and actively participate in the development initiatives of their Barangay. This fosters a sense of ownership and empowerment among residents.

The SEAs initiative in facilitating a Barangay Development Council (BDC) orientation with the active support of the Municipal Government of New Lucena through the Municipal Planning and Development Office (MPDO) is not an endpoint but a prologue to a story of resilience, progress, and collective empowerment. As participants off different barangay in New Lucena emerge from this immersive experience, they carry with them the seeds of change, sown in the fertile grounds of understanding, collaboration, and shared responsibility-where each elected official, sectoral representatives, and community leader becomes a vital thread in the fabric of progress.
